Lifestyle photography in Antartica for Silversea Cruises
I’d already done a shoot for Silversea Cruises in the Aegean in the summer of 2021 so I was super excited to be asked to work with them again onboard their new ship the Silver Endeavour in December last year. This time we were shooting on a luxury expedition in Antartica. It's very common these days on big shoots for photography to be done at the same time as filming and I have become very adept at shooting fast and using the same lights as the video team. Fast doesn’t mean skimping on quality and variety of images though. At the end of each video scene I took over and directed the models for 10-20 minutes to capture key still visuals that were slightly different to the video brief. Over the course of a week we cruised through a landscape of snow covered mountains, icy seas and huge icebergs. We saw many penguins, whales and seals. I photographed six models enjoying the very slick facilities on board and we also went on several expeditions ashore to photograph the talent experiencing the wonders of icy antarctic landscapes and wildlife.
